In my neck of the woods, the sun is shining, flowers are blooming and if I sit in my office for too long I start to feel like I have ants in my pants! I just want to get outside, even if it’s just for a quick walk around the block.
Today I’m busting out of hibernation mode with a sales funnel email series for you. Woohoo! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be revealing some of my favorite and top-performing sales funnels that I recommend for entrepreneurs who want to make money online and chill while doing it.
This week we’re going to kick off the series with funnel #1: The Generic Free Gift Funnel.
Now….I can hear you saying…” Wait! That’s not a SALES funnel.” and technically you’re right…but unless you have truckloads of cash to pump into paid traffic sources, you’re gonna have to build your list right? And in the coming weeks I’ll show you how to trick this funnel out so that it not only builds your list but brings in some sales as well 🙂
Here’s the breakdown of what you’ll need for the funnel itself.
1. Create Your Free Offer. The most important thing about your free offer (aside from the fact that it needs to be awesome!) is that it needs to be congruent with your Entry Level Paid Offer. What does your ideal client need BEFORE they need your entry offer? What is their worst and most obvious symptom that you have to overcome before they care about your offers? What is a related issue or an add-on that would be a great companion to your paid offers?
Should it be a PDF? Not necessarily…think outside the box. What’s the best format for your free offer? Quizzes and Challenges are really hot these days…but don’t twist yourself into a pretzel trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. Choose the format that matches up best with the content and that you’ll actually do. Don’t commit yourself to a video series if you can’t stand the thought of being on camera–it will take too long or may not happen at all. Keep it simple and get it done!
2. Build/Optimize Your Landing Page. You don’t need a lot of copy. For most landing pages you’ll need a headline, a sub-headline and 3-5 bullet points that list out the benefits of your free gift. You’ll also probably want to create a cute little graphic/cover that shows what the free gift will be. For example, if it’s a an ebook or guide, you can create an ebook cover at myecovermaker.com. When it comes to creating the page itself, there are tons of free and paid options out there, hands down, the BEST landing page/funnel builder out there is ClickFunnels. The speed of implementation alone will be worth it and they have a marketplace of tried and true templates that convert AND look good. You can check it out on a free trial through my affiliate link.
If you need a little inspiration, go through your inbox and take a look at the offers you’ve opted in for over the last few months. Typically, pages that you’ve liked in the past will be great models to use for your audience. I use the Full Page Screen Capture Extension in Chrome to create a swipe file of web pages I like to refer back to when I’m creating something new.
3. Thank You Page/Delivery Page. This can be super simple! You can clone/duplicate your optin page and take off everything but a nice thank you message. But don’t let the momentum die there, give them a call to action…a next step. Ask them to join your Facebook group or connect with you on Social Media. We’ll talk about more advanced steps in the coming weeks, but for now….work out a way to keep the conversation going.
